What may help
Remedies studied for hair loss, ranked by strength of evidence.
- C Pumpkin seed oil supplement
In one 24-week RCT in men, hair count rose ~40% vs ~10% on placebo — but the capsule was a proprietary multi-ingredient product, so the effect can't be pinned to pumpkin seed oil alone.
- C Rosemary herb
In one comparative trial, topical rosemary oil matched minoxidil 2% for hair count at 6 months with less itching — but it was single-blind with no placebo, and unreplicated.
- C Saw palmetto herb
Small trials suggest a modest reduction in hair fall and DHT, but it is clearly weaker than finasteride.
