Condition

Plantar fasciitis

Inflammation/degeneration of the band along the sole, causing sharp heel pain — classically worst with the first steps in the morning.

See a clinician

Some causes of plantar fasciitis need medical care, not self-treatment. Seek help for any of these:

  • Numbness, tingling, or burning into the foot (possible nerve entrapment, not fasciitis)
  • Pain worse at night or at rest, or after a "pop"/inability to bear weight (rule out fracture or rupture)
  • Bilateral heel pain in a young person with other joint involvement (possible inflammatory arthritis)
  • Redness, warmth, swelling, or fever (possible infection)

What may help

Remedies studied for plantar fasciitis, ranked by strength of evidence.

No graded remedies recorded yet.

The honest answer: no dietary supplement has good evidence as a treatment for plantar fasciitis. First-line, evidence-based care is mechanical — calf and plantar-fascia stretching, supportive footwear or orthoses, and load management. Be cautious of products marketed for “heel pain”; the evidence is not there.
