Vitamin K2
Also: menaquinone, MK-7, MK-4
A vitamin needed to activate bone proteins — with mixed evidence for bone density.
Evidence by condition
Each grade reflects the research for Vitamin K2 and that condition specifically.
- COsteoporosis
May improve spine bone density and possibly lower fractures in postmenopausal women, but the benefit largely disappears once higher-quality trials are isolated — not yet convincing.

Vitamin K2 helps the body carboxylate osteocalcin, a bone-building protein — but translating that into fewer fractures is unproven once weaker studies are set aside. Critically, it works against warfarin, so anyone on that drug must not start it without medical supervision.
